Origins 2007 Continental Championship Qualifier Columbus, Ohio July 7th, 2007 Saturday 10AM 3R+F 30 players Ben Peal's Tournament Winning Deck Deck Name: Angellore Created By: Ben Peal Description: This is yet another breed boon deck from me, inspired by a similar deck by Wes Weston. You've got Bastille Opera House and Conductor to pass Con Boons and KRCs. Note that Conductor is still effective while the vampire is in torpor. Siren's Lure with Majesty and Soak to get actions to succeed wound up being very effective. It's a pain in the neck that Siren's Lure is rare, but it's an outstanding card that really does get the job done. The Entrancements were money for me, and the DIs were lifesavers. It can be a bit nerve-wracking playing without bounce, not to mention the looming threat of Anarchist Uprising, but you're not spending a lot of pool on minions, and you're gaining a lot from the Con Boons. This one was born from a conversation with Brian Moritz at the 2006 NAC, where he mentioned using Unacceptable Appearance on your own !Nos. Legacy of Pander is the clear use of this, so I adapted my breed-boon template to !Nos-Pander. Greensleeves and Lukas (whose appearances on their cards are already unacceptable) get UA, then make Creation Rites babies. You eventually play Legacy of Pander for killer vote lock, and call Consanguineous Boons and KRCs. I didn't notice until after the fact that Lukas has inferior Serpentis, so throw in a couple Temptations or a Form of Corruption for added fun. Thanks to Matt Hirsch for running the event, and thanks to Grant, Ximon, and the staff of TempleCon for having us! After my tournament wins with a Ventrue version (Buckets o' Money) and an Assamite version (Team Amaravati) of the same concept, I came to the conclusion that I needed to get rid of the Obtenebration in the deck and exclusively use Obfuscate for stealth, since Obfuscate stealth is free. Angelica, Gratiano, and Guido have Obfuscate, making this a solid plan. The deck worked like a charm, getting 4 GW. Amaravati plays Governs to get out more guys. Guys get out Web of Knives Recruits. Weenie bleeding and Govern bleeding commence, backed up with KRCs via massive vote push from Amaravati's special. Con Boons for either defense or more guys. 35 stealth might seem like a lot (ok, it's a lot), but currently there's a lot of permanent intercept out there chewing up the stealth of vamps with inferior Obfuscate. Alamut isn't critical due to Amaravati's special, but it's a plus when you get it (same for Ventrue Headquarters). This is also a good deck for a player on a budget, as the only expensive card in there is Direct Intervention (and one could replace it with a Yoruba Shrine or something). Marcus Vitel's retainer-burning ability was invaluable in the tournament. This is now the second tournament I've won with a deck that was the result of a conversation with Sten During (the previous deck was Pochtli Twister).
