	Well, in a fast development last week, I found myself being transfered from my 6-6 W,T,F shift here , to a T,W,T shift here. The new shift works better for me (I actually will have weekends free!) and the Tech Center is a little closer to where I live than the TPC-central was, plus they have more stuff to play with at the Tech Center (I'm looking forward to getting some time in on the test clusters). Additionally, I was starting to desire a change of some kind in my life - I was starting to feel trapped again, and this should help shake things up a bit. On the downside, I'll miss seeing the people I worked with, and there is the normal uncertainty from a large change at work, but overall, this is looking good. reply

	Last week I found out why it gets so cold down there at night. There was a huge hole in one of the walls covered by a tarp where the construction workers brought in a couple of generators, gas tanks, etc... reply

	Well, later today (before 4:00 PM or so) I have to swing by the security office and drop off a whole bunch of forms that should hopefully allow me to bring personal possessions into and out of the complex, as well as making my badge work, so I don't have to keep ringing the doorbell on the war room. I might also be able to find a closer place to park, if I can go in through any door I want, rather than parking by the visitor's entrance. Then again, perhaps it might be best if I keep parking out of the way, as this is pretty much the heart of GM, and I'm driving the only Ford I've seen in any of the lots... reply

	Heh It was too optimistic for me to assume that my badge would work without any problems on the first attempt to get my access updated. It now appears to open just about every door down here, except for the front door from the entrance hallway, to the room I work in. I can still get in, but I have to take a roundabout route, winding through maintience hallways to the back door of the server room, and then travel through there. reply

	Good thing I got my badges updated - I had my laptop with me on Thursday night, and I got searched on my way out Friday morning. It wasn't much - they just wanted to match the serial number of my laptop against what was printed on my property pass, but I'm glad I had the new pass... reply
