(Cognate in Business) Work Experience: Aug 2004 - Present Hewlett Packard, Warren MI (Sysadmin) HP took over the contract I worked under from EDS, and I transitioned to working for HP. I played a very active role in teaching my new co-workers about the enviroment, and in assisting with a smooth transition. Jan 2001 - Aug 2004 Electronic Data Systems, Warren MI Infrastructure Analyst (Sysadmin) I worked as a member of a large team, in an extremely large computing environment. I am gaining experience in the management of large HPUX servers, the issues that come up in multi-terabyte NFS environments, and the processes necessary when a large datacenter transitions from one server platform to another (HP V class to EMC Celera fileservers). June 1999 - Nov 2000 Quantum Consultants, Inc., East Lansing MI: Sysadmin Working in an extremely diverse computing environment, I performed a wide variety of tasks related to system administration. Some of the tasks I performed included: Designing and implementing a company wide E-Mail system (including web based components, and a LDAP system), configuring and maintaining WAN links between offices, general maintenance (software installs, backups, initial setup, upgrades) of a variety of different UNIX systems (Irix, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, Linux), troubleshooting and data recovery, general network maintenance (setting up firewalls and proxies, configuring routers, troubleshooting, network planning), NT domain administration, and technical support. May 1998 - Oct 1999 Michigan State University Computational Ecology and visualization Laboratory: Graduate Research Assistant From the Spring of 1998 until the Fall of 1999, I worked for Dr. Gage in the Entomology department of Michigan State University. I was involved in integrating a series of numerical simulations together through an Oracle database. In the course of this, I gained experience in selecting the optimal technique to move datasets of over several hundred megabytes into and out of a database server. I also gained experience in writing and optimizing numerical simulations, as well as an introduction to Irix administration. 1996 - 2000 Alagad Graphic Design, East Lansing MI: Sysadmin From the summer of 1996 until the summer of 2000, I acted as the primary system administrator for a small internet start-up.
